Recuva Pro Portable

Recuva (/rɪˈkʌvə/)[2] is an undeletion program for Windows, developed by Piriform Software. It is able to undelete files that have been marked as deleted; the operating system marks the areas of the disk in which they were stored as free space.[3] Recuva can recover files deleted from internal and external hard disk drives, USB flash drives, memory cards, portable media players or all random-access storage mediums with a supported file system. Preview thumbnails of intact photos can be displayed in grid view mode and in the side bar.[4][5][6]

I tried to download the portable version Recuva 1.5.3 for Windows. On your homepage -versionyou write:"For the portable version, simply go to /recuva/download/portable and download the .ZIP file."The inscripted link leads not to a download page for the zip file but to the site with the text:T"hank you for downloading Recuva

Recuva Pro Portable

Follow these 3 simple steps to complete your Recuva installation"and it asks for the download of rcsetup153.exe.Please tell me where I can download the zip file for the portable version for Windows 10.Thanks for useful helpDr.med. Joachim Elz-Fianda

I found a solution here in this forum.I succeded in opening the rcsetup153.exe with 7Zip and to extract ist in a directory on an USB stick. The unpacked direectory contains the files recuva64.exe and recuva.exe. The first one runs without error. So far and thanks to this forumGreetings from GermanyDr.Mabuse

To create the portable.dat dummy file: - Right-click on a blank area of the new folder > click New > Text Document - Replace the entire file name with "portable.dat" and click Enter. - You will be prompted to confirm the file extension change. Click Yes.

The current non-portable Recuva release of v1.53.0.1087 weighs in at a hefty 5,609,656 bytes for the 64-bit executable. That's over a half a megabyte of unnecessary additional closed-source code doing who-knows-what.

Be careful, Recuva can view all deleted and un deleted images even ones on a pass word protected USB drive. So if you think your sensitive images are safe with a pass word just run recuva and you will be able to view all your pass word protected images without using your pass word.

Nice interface and the developers seem to be actively developing the tool. I have been unable to see a difference in quality of restoration versus other tools. However, I use the also-portable "Restoration" program in tandem for data recovery.

Looks like download the zip file from special location on website, not the normal install file. Also, the program has setting "save to ini" that is what portable people probably want to use. It's not set by default. have to check the box.

Programs like thisrecuvaundeleteplusall say they recover jpg picturesbut they are not viewableCan' t open or header error pops upDoes anyone know what to do about it

Actually, the official portable builds save to settings files, so as long as they go with the .exe, they're portable. (Except Speccy, which you have to choose to save to a file manually, but as long as you do that it still works).

I'm glad to hear that PA.c is working with Piriform to create portable versions of the aforementioned programs. I know that portable versions are already available through the publisher's website but having the programs in PA.c Format makes things much simpler.

If and when there are portable versions made available, will there be two launchers for CCleaner, Speccy, etc. because of the x86 and x64 executables? Or will x64 not be supported in this particular case...

Downloaded all four of the "portable" versions of these programs last night from piriform's site, copied them to my USB drive and clicked Options/Refresh App Icons. No problems with CCleaner and Speccy, but Recuva and Defraggler produced multiple icon entries on the menu screen.

Recuva has two entries and looking in the directory there are two executable files one called recuva.exe the other recuva64.exe (I'm guessing for 64bit versions of windows?) However both entries on the PortableApps menu just say Recuva (no telling which is the 64 bit version) 2ff7e9595c
